Default About carbs!

confusing issue! One tells you that carbs are bad and that you should limit them if you don't want to put on weight, and another says that you need to eat plenty of carbs to fuel your body.

Which of these are true?

Hi,

It depends on your lifestyle, if you are working out and wanted to put on some weight you should eat more carbs for energy, but if you're not then less carbs are needed.

If you are health concious then you dont really need carbs, but it depends on your body and the requirement as, it is very necessary for your health to maintain your diet by fulfilling essential stuffs.

Carbs are best to gain some energy and also it is required when your body needed.

Thanks

Hi San,

A lot of people think that eating carbohydrates will make them fat. Here is all the information you need about carbohydrates and how they can affect your weight, as well as advice on how much carbohydrate you should be eating!
Two Kinds of Carbohydrates

Firstly it is important to know that there are two kinds of carbohydrates, Simple and Complex. Another way of describing them are Starches or Sugars. Starches are foods like pasta, potatoes, bread etc.; sugars are sweet and consist of sugar (the sort you buy in packets, and find in sweets, chocolate, cakes etc.) and fruit. Another way of thinking of complex or simple carbohydrates is to consider their GI rating.
What is the Difference?

The difference is in the way they are absorbed by the body. Complex carbohydrates take a while to go through our system and be absorbed by the body and used as fuel.

Simple carbohydrates are the opposite - they take virtually no digestion and are taken up almost immediately by the body as fuel giving us an instant, short energy rush.
So Can Carbohydrates Make You Fat?

Like all food, carbohydrate can make you fat if you eat too much of it! However, it is the simple carbohydrates that you need to watch out for. Because we like the sweet taste of simple carbohydrates, and because the energy rush we get from them is short-lived and leaves us feeling hungry, it is easy to over-eat simple carbohydrates. Simple carbohydrates provide energy in a very concentrated form (sugar is 100% carbohydrate!), so a small amount of it can contain a lot of calories!

See, it is not at all a confusing issue as, carbs are very necessary aliment for fueling body as, it is a vital source of energy but, the thing which is important to keep in mind is, the consumption of carbs should be in a particular amount not more otherwise, you can get some extra fats in your body that results in weight gain.

So, both the things are true.

There are generally two widely held beliefs when it comes to eating carbs and their effect on weight loss. The first belief is that carbs are inherently bad for losing weight and that carbs are easily turned into fat.

Because we like the lovely preference of simple sugars, and because the power hurry we get from them is short-lived and simply actually leaves us sensation starving, it is simple to over-eat simple sugars.

There are generally two widely held beliefs when it comes to dietary carbohydrates and their effect on weight loss. The first belief is that carbohydrates are intrinsically bad for losing weight and that carbohydrates are easily converted into fat.
