Default brown sugar?

Ok, so I have a question...
I really don't like the taste of plain oatmeal. I tried putting berries on top and the berries just annoyed me.
I just made some and put about half a teaspoon of brown sugar on it (which is actually a bit much) and I'm wondering, if I put less than half a teaspoon of brown sugar on my oatmeal, how much am I just ruining the point of eating something like oatmeal?

I would suggest sugar free jam, or sugar free syrup.. I actually mix both in my oatmeal...

After finishing that bowl, I think I just have to admit that I hate oatmeal and there's nothing that's going to make me like it. Blech...

Well I won't ingest anything that has aspartame in it due to the health risks of that product, but I thought Splenda contained no aspartame?
On a related note, I had some oatmeal last night and it wasn't too bad. I made it with water, same as always then added a little skim milk and just a sprinkle of brown sugar. I think I can get away with a sprinkle right?
