Default Completely lost

Ok, so I am entirely new at this diet thing. I mean I tried a few here and there, but I was never completely serious. I need help. I have no idea where to start, what to eat or what to count or not count. I got the workout under control, but nothing else. I happen to be a very big girl, and I would like to lose some major poundage. I just don't know where to begin. Anyone have some advice they would be kind of enough to share with me?

Hi shellz

I can try to help

First of all you have to realize that dieting is probably not the way to go into things....you need to look at it as a lifestyle....eating healthy, going to the gym, getting exercise, it all adds up to a healthier you. In terms of losing fat, you need to make sure you're taking in the proper amount of calories, and that your meals are made up of the right things. As a general guideline, if you haven't been tracking your calorie intake, you can take your BW and times by 15 to find your maintenance....this is just a general starting point...you will have to pay close attention and adjust accordingly...I don't know your weight, heaight or previous diet. If you're goal is to lose fat then you're going to want to take in fewer calories than your maintenance level.

In terms of meals....shoot for 4-6 smaller meals spaced evenly apart. Set your protein intake at 1 g per lb and split this evenly between all your meals. Make sure you are taking your fish oil caps and getting enough EFA's. Your carb sources should come from clean, unprocessed, whole grains and starches...such as sweet potato, rice, old fashioned oats, ezekial products, couscous, etc....and don't forget your fruits and veggies.

If you want to post your current meal plan I can take a look at it. I'd also be interested to see your training.
