Unhappy Help?!?

Hello! I am new here! Love what I am seeing! You guys know your stuff!

O.k I need help! I am having a really hard time trying to figure out how I should eat to shed bodyfat?! I am 5"8 weigh 180 lbs ( I used to weigh 230lbs and have gradually lost the weight and transformed my body). I teach 5, high intensity, 1 hour aquafit classes a week as well as 1, 1 hour indoor cycling class and 1, 1.25 hour circuit training class a week as well as 3-4 days a week of 30 min cardio and 30 min upper body weights a week. I tend to eat lighter during the day (protien shakes, fruit, yogurt mixed w/ cottage cheese, salads) but when I get home I feel tired and tend to overindulge with carbs especially after supper! I have tried to manipulate my diets in many different ways but thave had no luck! I end up back in this pattern!

Any input would be appreciated!

Late night "Carbs" are tricky they always seem to try and get you then.

I have found out the best time for carbs for me is in the morning or early afternoon. Reason being is your body has fasted all night, and the carbs will go to feed the muscle. Unlike the carbs later at night which are more likely to just be stored.

Sugar-free jellos or puddings are my after dinner treat!

5-6 small meals is great advice hardcurves

Water intake is very important for shedding bodyfat. You must drink to flush the system.

If you plateau and can't seem to get past it. Try shocking your system by increasing calorie intake for a short period. Sounds crazy but it will work.

Be strong and beat those nasty carb cravings!

You can do it!

Vvivid, you sound like my twin!!! I too used to be 230 pounds, and am now at 185. I teach Spinning and am a personal trainer, but I really need to lose 20 lbs. I eat very well during the day, it's nighttime that kills me.

Maybe we can be diet buddies or something.

Effie, it's so annoying because I KNOW I should eat 5-6 small meals, but I can't seem to stick to it. How can I kill night cravings?.

@frustrated
How about stuffing yourself with cucumber with some Atkins ketchup, or sugarfree jellow?
And something else, and I really truly don't mean to offend you in any way or be mean, why aren't you able to stick to your dietplans according eating more frequently? It's all about making a choice and following up on it. It's eather sticking to your plan or accepting the fact that nothing is gonna change, those are your only options.

Thanks for all your replies!

I get up every day at 5am and teach my first class at 8am or 9:30am. I "try" to eat earlier (around 6am) but I hate working out with something in my stomach. Plus it is go, go, go, with kids to daycare and starting work at 6 ! But my diet is pretty good during the day as my day is very scheduled and structured. After the kids go to bed I start to get killer cravings, and even when I am good all goes wrong.

Problem lies in the night, I will get up and eat carbs (cereal, granola bars, cheese, cereal bars, ect)! Sometimes I don't even remember, I just find wrappers on the kitchen counter, or i am too 'out of it ' to even think straight . If I 'catch' myself I head back to bed asap. The morning after these midnight binges I won't eat until after 12 noon because of the guilt and then the cycle gets worse and worse. These cycles come and go and I have yet to figure out what exactly triggers them.

Short of chaining myself to the bed..... Gonna lose it soon. Willpower seems to only get you so far! I am now trying to take sugar right out of my diet... wean myself off. See if it helps

Maybe take those things that you are eating at night and storing them in you garage or car so you actually need to get all dressed at night to go and get them if you want them? Might make you less motovated to go after that stuff.

I was the same, i started to make meals larger, during the day and it stopped the cravings at night. sometimes if i am short on will power i will buy myself a small bar of chocolate (and i mean small). but eat it early enough in the day so i burn it off. you have done really well to loose so much. just try and keep it together, this is the hardest bit keeping it off and loosing more.
good luck vivvid
