Default How low is to low on calories?

How low is to low on calories? I'm dieting and I know my progress could be faster if I dropped my calories to 1,000 instead of 1,200-1,300 but I'm scared I will mess up my metabolism. I know I am capable of doing it because the diet that I'm doing kills my appetite (most of the time) and some times at the end of the day I'm not hungry but i know I have not eaten that much and I'll eat a little protien meal. On the weekends I eat more food just to change things up but Mon-Fri. I'm considering going to 1,000. My maintenance level is like1500-1600. What is the experience of you ladies? Any advice?

1000 is way to low IMO... somewhere around 1400 would be pretty good... if your trying to lose weight, increase your cardio for a coupld weeks, either add in a couple more sessions, or make the current ones longer

Ok, thanks. I've read that 1,ooo is to low and now you have confirmed it for me. I guess it is tempting but there is no quick fix.

try carb cycling... have a no carb day...just as the name states, no carbs, a high carb day.... oats, brown rice or sweet potato, nuder 200 grams of carbs... and a low carb day... same foods, under 100 grams of carbs.... track your eating on www.fitday.com ... try this cycle for 1 full week before you weight yourself again

I just started Bodyopus Diet (again) Which is similar to what you are suggesting. So I want to stick to it for awhile and see what happens this time around because I took a little break. But if I don't get the results that I want I think I wll try carb cycling like 3no carb days and then 2 carb days?? instead of Bodyopus 5 day no carbs. I know that would feed my muscles more but I'm really trying hard to melt away the little bit of fat that I have. I'm not overwieght, my goal is to try and get ripped, which is not easy.

Default BodyOpus

I just ordered the book and I'm excited. I read some of the reviews and excerpts, and it sounds like just the information that I need.

Thanks for mentioning that !!

ttuPrincess: Can you give me an example of your meal plan? I'm just starting to try and lose weight and hopefully get in shape and I'm totally in the dark on all of this. I'm 5'5.5", 135lbs. I've been using the treadmill for about 6 months and have been using weights (low weight) and have just been doing the old fashioned things that can be done at home. (leg lifts, crunches (very few)) For someone just starting out, what would you recommend for a "beginner" as far as fitness and diet. My legs, I thought, were doing good with the exception of my very flabby inner thighs until I went to a Spinning Class at the Y and couldn't do it. I'm satisfied with the progress of my arms for no longer than I've been working them but my mid section..............OH MY GOSH!! Still have a fat belly and love handles that are REDICULOUS!!!! Please help.
