Question Too much tea?

Hello from England!

I just joined the forums today. This place looks good!

I have recently begun to take my fitness very seriously. I visit the gym everyday and do home workouts. I have also given up smoking.

However I have one vice - I'm absolutely addicted to tea! I drink about 15 cups per day. I guess tea has replaced cigarettes. Do you know if too much tea is bad?

Thanks in advance! ♥

Hey there -
First let me congratulate you on quitting smoking that can be so very challenging. About the tea well...you need to make sure that you are not getting dehydrated - try this calculator to see if you are drinking enough water with all the tea. Tea is full of antioxidants but you need to drink it without the milk.

Anything too much is bad. Drinking any fluids (other than alcohol and caffeinated) is the same as drinking water. So it is good for health. However, green tea can cause the thyroid to slow down. Moderate level is always advisable.

Even though green tea have many health benefits it has bad effects also. Green eat is not good for thyroids. Also green tea has lesser amount of caffeine.Since you drink around 15 cups a day, this will become large amount. Reduce it to 3-4 cups a day.

Well, it is said, that too much tea can give you heart problems, because it's full of tein - a lesser version of caffeine. But it depends on the type of tea. The only problem Green Tea gives you is, a iSui stated - going to the toilet more often.

Tea is ok for you, just remember that it has caffeine and tannins in it. Too much caffeine can be bad, so if you plan on drink lots and lots of tea, maybe switch to decaf. Also, keep track of how much sugar or cream you add because those calories add up fast! Good luck!

Yes, over dose of tea can cause problems to the body system. Tea is good for health but it should be taken in limit. The overdose can create some types of dangerous stuffs for a person. The doctors are not advising for tea, they can advise to take in minor level like two or three cups per day, not more than it. Tea contains more caffeine than coffee which is somewhere good for health but taking it too much can harm the digesting system.

Drinking too much tea can lead problems like restlessness, irritation, sleeping problems, tremors, heart palpitations and loss of appetite can be the problems you can face. Also the problems to stomach can be increase. Specially young children are advised not to drink because their body may not be comfortable and it may over stimulate them.

Its nice to hear that you have quit smoking but dear rinking lots of tea is also harmful for your health. It can crate much problems for you as 'aenajones' said. You should have to decrease your tea quantity for a healthy life.
