Hi there ... Im completely and untterly depressed. Here is my situation : Ive been dieting since I was 13 years old. I was severly anorexic as a teen and ate anywhere from 0-600 cals for about 9 years. 3 years ago I decided to change my lfe and started eating about 1800 a day . I gained wt rapidly from 115 lbs to 140 lbs in one month . I dropped cals again and got to about 132 lbs . Played wiht the diet raising cals to around 1500 and slowwwly (like a year) lost 120. I finally got down after 2 years to 111 lbs again and then I got very sick for 3 months with bad bronchitis and pnemonia. Gained 20 lbs back in 3 months . So here I sit 1 year later at 133.5 lbs and miserable. I dont think I have EVER ate maintenence for longer than a couple bad eating days in a row.! I did have a stint of muscle gaining tho where i ate 1800 a day and I gained mass FAST. BUT I didnt like it . I do cardio 5x a week at 40-60 . I lift twice a week because I do have the tendency to bulk and I hate it so I try to go easy on the weights. Cals are avging about 1500 a day . Im 5"3 and miserable. Im a size 9. Please help with any suggestions. I dont track macros lately but all foods are clean , almond butter . oats , whites , chix breast , vegis steamed etc... I need to be at LEAST 125 to not look chubby. what do i do ? Last edited by mgirl : 06-24-2006 at 10:38 PM.

you sound like me! I've been dieting and exercising for the past two weeks and lost 4 pounds, then suddenly yesterday I gained 2 back! After carefully going over what I had done differently, I came to the conclusion that I cannot drink soft drinks (cokes). It makes me retain water and it discourages me when I see the my weight go up. I'm wondering if you maybe have a similar problem? You have an excellent exercising routine! Keep it up! Melanie

I have had the same problem.... It sounds like you need to change up your excersice routine a bit. try doing differnt types of cardio instead of the same thing or if you excersice at the same time everyday, change the time you excersie. What has worked for me in the past is doing 45 min of cardio first thing in the morning on an empty stomach (your burn more cal.'s that way, or so i have heard) and do your weight traning in the evening, pliate's work well if you bulk with weights, try pilates they tone with out adding the extra bulk, when i started them i noticed results as soon as 4 weeks. hope this helps!

If your schedule allows, eat more frequent smaller meals during the day. You might try taking a 'rest week' too. Sometimes your body is just maxed out and needs a break or like tbooth said, it needs a little something different. Try to rotate your workouts at least every 6 weeks to keep your body guessing. I also love to workout first thing in the morning. I have a hard time keeping on track for the day if I don't start out on a good foot. Plus I get to brag at work about my early workout when everyone else is snacking on junk food and complaining they feel fat! Oh, and about weight gain, keep in mind that week when you'll be menstrating. My scale jumps almost 3 pounds when that happens. It's awfully depressing, but then drops like crazy once I'm past it!
