Trying to lose weight with just dieting. Why isn't this working?

The facts are simple we are fatter as a society because we consume approximately 260 more calories daily than we did a decade ago and we move less because of envolving technology.

Even with new knowledge of proper use of protein,fat and carbohydrates to help satiate and keep energy high during fat loss, we have not been able to control the mind/appetite connection. As a society we continue to consume too many calories in relation to our expenditure and desire to look a certain way.
Why
1. hereditary set points
2. hectic schedules
3.continious technological advancements
4. mental stress
5. unconsciously and consciously underreporting calories
6. large portion sizes
7. early introduction to sugary, fatty convenience foods
8. social eating and drinking patterns

These can all contribute to our failures to get our desired results, but are not excuses or set points. Bottom line is We simply eat too much and move too little. So if you want to succeed proper diet and a solid workout routine is the key.

I agree that we can make a difference. I do think that our genes can make it harder for us to get or stay in shape. We can over come this by eating a healthier diet, and controlling our calorie intake. Some of us also have to do more exercise then others to keep the weight of. This is not fair, but just a fact of life.
