Default New to working out

Hi Everyone,
I'm Chrissi. I'm 36 years old (for another couple of weeks anyway) with 2 kids, a fulltime job and partime uni. My boyfriend bought me a gym membership 3 weeks ago. I have never been to a gym before but now I think I'm hooked! Currently doing Spin Monday & Tuesday, Tai Bo Thursday and weights on weekends. I'm slowly learning about how to eat a healthier low-carb, high protein diet and looking forward to seeing some good results.

Any tips anyone can pass on would be greatly appreciated - and I look forward to reading all the great advice on here.

Cheers
Chrissi

Hello Chrissi. You can get slim, even if you walk . Diet is bad way to go. My personal trainer told me...look word "diet" and what you can put together from first 3 letters? "Die". If you dont know where to get meal plans, write PM me and i will help. Key is to eat 5-6 meals every day. Small healthy meals, to get your metabolism really up. Faster it is...faster you start loosing fat. Once you get your eating on track...you can try carb cycling together with calorie cycling. When i started, it helped me to lose 2 lb of fat per week.

Training is easy part....eating it the key and hardest .

Let me know how you are and maybe i can help you with meal-plan

Hi Chrissi,

sounds like you're having a great time! Good for you!

I think that you should still keep doing what you're doing and experiment with different types of training/activities.

My advise to you would be find something you enjoy doing and run with it! If you're not feeling a certain exercise or workout - don't do it, you'll just be wasting your time and it wont be enjoyable.

Good Luck!

Default Congrats!

Hi Chrissi-

Congratulations on a great start! That's often the toughest part.

My tips for you: don't burn yourself out in the beginning. That is the most common reason for women to drop out of fitness programs. We get all excited and pumped about our new lifestyle and jump in with both feet. But then we realize that life is going to get in the way and we start missing a workout here and there. And the next thing you know, we just stop going all together, because what's the point if we can't keep up with how we started...

From your post, it looks like you are going to the gym 4-5 nights per week (and I would guess for at least an hour each time). If you can keep that up, great. But I only find time to workout 2-3 times per week (about 30 minutes per session) and I don't have 2 kids...and I'm a personal trainer! Ha!

Just something to be aware of as you continue on your fitness journey.

One more tip...change things up. If you keep doing the same thing over and over, not only do most people get bored psychologically, but also your body gets bored and has no reason to change and improve any longer.

If you want some videos that demonstrate short, intense workouts for women, go to my YouTube channel. I post workouts up there regularly.

Good Luck!!!
