Talking SO Lost when it comes to Protein.

Hey all. Thank God I finally found a site for women. I have been looking for information regarding women and Protein use all night and its always information for these 6'5" 250lb guys trying to bulk up. Alright my story is this, I'm almost 22 I'm 6'0" and 173 lbs. I MUST slim down before the summer. I am on a water skiing show team and I'm sick and tired of being self concious about my body. I don't want to get huge (the usual female statement). I'd love to get lean and toned. Right now my regime goes eating 3x a day normal healthly low fat, low calorie food. such as, whole wheat english muffin and fruit and egg whites for bfast, turkey sandwich on whole wheat for lunch, salad and chicken breast for dinner etc. I do cardio 3x a week and lift 3x a week. my question is this. Will protein shakes help? And if so when do I take them? How often? Which one!? Right now I have Muscle Milk, it was a friend of mine's leftover. But it seems AWFULLY high in calories and fat...348 cal, 18g fat per serving. Is that normal. Also, protein bars throughout the day? any help would be SUPERB! Thank you. Sorry this was long winded!

First of all, don't worry about being huge, it is hard for a female to get huge because we have a lack of testosterone. Protein shakes will help your muscles to repair, and also usually have good amount of vitamins in them. I recommend using it as a post-workout snack. Muscle Milk is high in calories and fat, however, they do have a light version. Also, remember, you don't have to use a full serving. You can always use one scoop instead of two. When mixing protein, I like to use light soy milk of the same flavor as my protein. It gives you a slight bit more protein and some extra nutrients.

Default Protein Explained...

No need to be overwhelmed on the topic of protein. Just pick one that is low in sugar/carbs...I love the Labrada V60 in any flavor it's so good!
